Stadion Wankdorf is a modern football stadium located in Bern, Switzerland. Officially opened in 2005, it was built on the site of the original Wankdorf Stadium, which famously hosted the 1954 FIFA World Cup Final.
The new stadium, often referred to as the Stade de Suisse Wankdorf during UEFA competitions, has a capacity of approximately 32,000 spectators.

It is the home ground of BSC Young Boys, one of Switzerland’s top football clubs. Stadion Wankdorf features a retractable roof, solar panels on the roof generating renewable energy, and facilities for concerts and events. The venue has hosted UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches and was one of the stadiums used during UEFA Euro 2008.
Stadion Wankdorf in Bern has a rich history of hosting key football matches, most famously the 1954 FIFA World Cup Final, where West Germany clinched their first World Cup title by defeating Hungary in the “Miracle of Bern.” Over the years, the stadium has also been a venue for numerous Swiss Super League matches, including important fixtures for local club BSC Young Boys. Additionally, it has hosted various international friendlies and UEFA competition games, making it a central hub for Swiss football events before being replaced by the modern Stade de Suisse in 2005.
