Infantino stands by Trump, Saudi 2032 award and leaves door open for Russia’s return

March 3 – FIFA boss Gianni Infantino is still cosying up to Donald Trump despite the US president’s seismic spat with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy  that shocked political commentators and the western world at large.

Infantino, who attended Trump’s inauguration in Washington last month and recently praised him for promoting a message of “peace and unity”, maintained a similar narrative after arriving in Northern Ireland to attend IFAB’s annual gathering on Friday and Saturday.

Liverpool post £57m losses as revenue hits £614m

March 3 – Liverpool has announced a pre-tax loss of £57 million for the financial year ending 31 May 2024, a sharp increase from the £9 million deficit recorded in the previous year. However, the club’s overall revenue rose by £20 million to £614 million, driven by record-breaking commercial income and a strong on-field showing in Jürgen Klopp’s final season in charge.
