February 29 – Germany claimed Europe’s last ticket to the Olympic women’s football tournament with a 2-0 victory against the Netherlands in the third-place playoff of the Nations League. In Asia, Australia and Japan clinched their spots for Paris.
January 9 – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has unveiled a three-round competition structure to qualify two women’s teams for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
April 14 – Chile’s women took the final qualifying slot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic tournament after a 0-0 draw was enough to put them through from the inter-continental play-off against Cameroon.
March 29 – Mexico and Honduras make the final qualification list for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympics to be played this summer.
March 4 – The long awaited final AFC play-off between South Korea and China for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020 has at last been scheduled, more than a year after the final round of qualifying began and seven months after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics should have taken place.
February 14 – The AFC qualifiers for the Tokyo 2022 Olympics women’s tournament have been whittled down to the final four teams after Australia came back in injury time to secure a 1-1 draw against China and win the group on goal difference. Both teams go through to the final play-off.

January 31 – With the Chinese Women’s team currently quarantined in a Brisbane hotel until February 5, the Football Federation Australia (FFA) have announced a revamped schedule for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers that will start February 3.
January 17 – Hosts Thailand and defending champions Uzbekistan are among the teams that progressed to the last eight of the AFC U-23 Championship. Japan, Qatar and Iran were eliminated in the first round.
January 10 – With the AFC’s U23 Championship and Olympic qualifiers in full swing, Concacaf have announced the draw for the eight-team tournament that will qualify their two teams for the Tokyo 2020 game.
November 6 – The United States will host the 2020 Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament January 28 – February 9. The competition will qualify two teams for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The official draw and host cities announcement will take place this Thursday.
September 26 – The draw for the AFC U-23 finals that will be played in Thailand in January 2020 was held in Bangkok today and pitched defending champions Uzbekistan in the same group as the region’s football power houses South Korea and Iran, as well as the deeply aspirational Chinese.
November 7 – The first matches the Asian qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games women’s football competition have begun with Philippines being the fastest off the mark with a nine goal win over Singapore in the opening game.
