Brazil’s CBF blames local authorities for security issues at Brazil-Argentina 2026 qualifier

November 23 – The Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) has refused to accept responsibility for the chaos and violence at the World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium, claiming that local authorities had not objected to security arrangements, or to the lack of segregation of the fans.

Asia’s nations begin first group qualifying on long road to 2026 World Cup

November 23 – The qualification road for Asia’s nations for the 2026 World Cup is a long one. The first round saw 20 teams play knock-out matches to qualify for the first group stage. There will be a further group round and play-offs before the AFC’s 2026 qualifiers are confirmed.

Concacaf announces match-ups for Nations League final four and Copa America play-in

November 23 – Panama will meet Mexico and the USA will face Jamaica in the semi-finals of the 2023/34 Concacaf Nations League to be played at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, next March.

November 22 – The Asian Football Confederation have agreed a partnership with VISA which will see the global payment services provider become the Official Regional Partner for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 and the AFC Champions League in the West Asia region.

Premier League fails to gain majority vote to stop inter-club loans between clubs with same owners

November 22 – Newcastle United will be allowed to bring in loan players from foreign teams controlled by their Saudi owners in the January transfer window after a vote on a temporary ban on related-party loans did not get enough support from Premier League clubs.

November 22 – Next summer’s Euro hosts Germany suffered a second defeat in four days on Tuesday, losing 2-0 to Austria as Julian Nagelsmann’s reign continues to get off to a tough start with less than seven months until the tournament begins.

Reggae Boyz jammin in Canada; Mexico comeback but need penalty shootout to beat Honduras

November 22 – Three second half goals in Toronto saw Jamaica knock 2023 Nations League finalists Canada out of the 2024 Nations League semi-finals and automatic qualification for the 2024 Copa America to be played in the US. At the Azteca it took a late goal and penalties for Mexico to overcome Honduras to secure their place.
