August 28 – FIFA will launch a new proposal to revive the creation of a Women’s World League within the next year, according to the organisation’s head of women’s development and governance Emily Shaw. In 2018 the FIFA Council failed to approve the introduction of the new competition.

August 28 – In what will go down as one of the darkest days in recent English football history, Bury, one of the country’s oldest clubs, were expelled from the Football League (EFL) on Tuesday after failing to resolve their financial problems, the first English club to go out of business for 27 years.
August 28 – Scotland manager Steve Clarke Scotland hopes a UEFA ban on Glasgow Rangers will help the club eradicate racist behaviour.
August 28 – Asian Champions League focus was in Saudi Arabia yesterday as three Saudi clubs competed in the West Asian quarter finals of the competition. The fourth club battling for a semi-final spot was from Qatar.

August 28 – The Belgian FA (KBVB) has unveiled an ambitious five-year plan to develop and grow the women’s game, investing an additional €3 million into the domestic women’s game over the next two seasons.
