June 4 – Real Madrid were crowned European champions for a 12th time after comprehensively defeating Juventus 4-1 in the Champions League final. Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Madrid to retain their European title, a historic feat.

June 2 – Amid heightened security, the Welsh capital hosts the 2017 final of the Champions League on Saturday as holders Real Madrid attempt to become the first club to retain the trophy under its current guise since the competition switched from the old European Cup format 24 years ago.

June 2- Lyon were crowned European champions for a record equalling fourth time after edging PSG in a tense women’s Champions League final 7-6 on penalties. The loss means that PSG miss out on European play next season.

June 2 – A survey by Champions League sponsor Mastercard has seen British football fans voted the most passionate in Europe. ‘The 12th Man’ study saw 32% vote for British fans, ahead of 16% for Spanish fans and 12% for Italian fans.

June 1 – In his first public comment on the issue, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin says the 2030 World Cup should go to Europe and that China should not be allowed to jump the queue and must abide by current regional hosting rules.

June 1 – Atletico Madrid have reacted furiously after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) threw out their last-ditch appeal against a transfer ban imposed by FIFA for signing non-Spanish players under the age of 18, saying the verdict will cause “irreparable damage”.
