May 13 – Russia have tried to put a positive spin on their lack of modern football stadiums and facilities by claiming that awarding them the 2018 World Cup would help the development of the sport in the world’s biggest country, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov claimed today.

May 12 – England’s World Cup bid is copying an idea from London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympics and Parlaympics when it hands its bid book into FIFA President Sepp Blatter in Zurich on Friday (May 14).

West Ham Olympic Stadium bid boosted by UK Athletics boss

May 9 – West Ham United have received encouragement that they will be able to take over the £537 million ($795 million) Olympic Stadium after the London 2012 Games from Ed Warner, the chairman of UK Athletics, who has claimed that their proposal is “very credible”.
