European Leagues confident of winning legal dispute with FIFA over match calendar

March 6 – The umbrella body covering Europe’s major leagues says it won’t back down in its legal dispute with FIFA and that it is increasingly confident of its case. 

Last October, European Leagues joined forces with FIFPRO, the players’ international union, in filing a complaint to the European Commission over FIFA’s “abuse of dominant position”, specifically the international match calendar.

TNT Sports hands FIFA Club World Cup a major broadcast boost

March 6 – The FIFA World Club Cup (FCWC), which seemingly takes two steps backwards to every step forwards, will be breathing a semi-sigh of relief after it was announced that major US broadcaster TNT Sports will show 24 matches – including group stages, knockout games and the final on July 13 – on its combined networks of TNT, TBS and truTV.
