Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic have made history by qualifying for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup for the first time. This is a landmark achievement for the men’s national team, as it is the first major tournament in their football history.

The Dominican Republic will compete in Group A alongside Mexico, Costa Rica, and Suriname.

They qualified via a series of strong performances in the 2024–25 CONCACAF Nations League, where they their topped League B with a perfect record (6 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses, 27 goals scored, 4 conceded). This qualified them directly for the Gold Cup finals without the need to go through the Preliminary Play-offs.

However in current Concacaf 2026 World Cup qualification they have been eliminated from the final group round of 12 teams, having lost to both Honduras and Jamaica.

Head Coach

Gabriel Neveleff is an Argentine football manager who took over the Dominican Republic national football team in 2023 and masterminded their Nations League campaign.

Neveleff’s coaching career has been seen him hold assistant positions at a number of MLS clubs, joining the Dominican Republic from his position as head coach of Orlando B.

Star player

Heinz Mörschel currently plays in Portugal’s second division with Vizela who he joined in 2024, and had scored 8 goals in 26 matches as of April 2025.

He made his professional debut for Mainz 05 II (2016–2018) in Germany’s 3. Liga, scoring 8 goals in 41 appearances.

He represented Germany at U18 and U19 levels, scoring in both age groups, before making the switch to Dominican Republic where he debuted for the senior Dominican Republic national team in 2023. As of November 2024, he has 15 caps and 7 goals for the senior team. He played for the Dominican Republic Olympic team in 2024.
