Snapdragon Stadium, nestled in Mission Valley, has rapidly become a cornerstone of San Diego’s vibrant soccer scene. Since its grand opening in September 2022, this 35,000-seat venue has seamlessly blended world-class facilities with community spirit, hosting a diverse array of events from Major League Soccer (MLS) to international friendlies.
The stadium is a 35,000-seat multipurpose venue owned by San Diego State University and managed by OVG360. Located in Mission Valley, central to San Diego, the stadium has convenient freeway and transit access. It is part of the larger SDSU Mission Valley development, including housing, retail, and a river park and as such serves as a year-round entertainment destination and hub of community engagement.
The bowl design is built for intimacy and strong sightlines, bringing fans close to the action and designed with infrastructure to expand if needed. The stadium has wide concourse areas and social spaces, including open-air lounges and standing-room zones. The video board consists of a large high-definition scoreboard and multiple LED ribbon boards. The venue is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification and manages sustainability efforts as a top priority.
Kaiser Permanente Thrive Park at Snapdragon Stadium is a seven-acre greenspace located directly west of the Stadium. It is utilized for a variety of purposes including tailgating, festivals, and special events, and can be rented out for all types of private and public gatherings as well.
Snapdragon Stadium is home to SDSU Aztec Football, San Diego FC of Major League Soccer, and San Diego Wave FC of the National Women’s Soccer League. In addition to tenant events, Snapdragon Stadium hosts a myriad of events including concerts, festivals, dirt shows, international sporting events, championships, community events, private and corporate events and more.
The stadium is used to soccer sell-outs. Wave FC set a new NWSL attendance record when it debuted in the new stadium on September 17, 2022. On September 1, the team announced the game had sold out its 32,000 capacity for that game, more than two weeks before kick off.
While Snapdragon Stadium has witnessed remarkable sporting achievements, it has also faced challenges. Following a May 2025 match between SDFC and LA Galaxy, a violent altercation broke out among fans, leading to a significant police presence. Both clubs swiftly condemned the incident, emphasizing the need for improved security measures and a commitment to fostering a safe and respectful environment for all supporters
