Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe, known as ‘Les Gwada Boys’, have become a spirited and unpredictable presence in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, qualifying five times: 2007, 2009, 2011, 2021, and 2023. Their most memorable run came in 2007, when they stunned the region by reaching the semi-finals, defeating Canada and Honduras before narrowly falling 1-0 to Mexico to finish fourth.

Across their Gold Cup history, Guadeloupe have recorded 5 wins, 2 draws, and 11 losses, scoring 23 goals and conceding 31. Recent tournaments have shown flashes of promise but also inconsistency, as they continue to draw inspiration from their 2007 heroics.

Star Players

  • Matthias Phaëton (CSKA Sofia) – Born in France and of Guadeloupean descent, Phaëton is the undisputed star of the team. A former France youth international who has become Guadeloupe’s all-time top scorer in Gold Cup history, dazzling fans with his pace, flair, and clinical finishing.

  • Ange-Freddy Plumain (Nea Salamina) – A seasoned left winger bringing valuable experience and creativity to Guadeloupe’s flanks.
  • Kilian Bevis (Radnički 1923) – A reliable presence providing stability and leadership in defense or midfield.
  • Rémy Labeau-Lascary (Lens) – A mainstay for Guadeloupe whose consistency and work rate contribute both defensively and offensively.
  • Noah Cadiou (Rodez AF) – Anchors the midfield with intelligence and composure, linking defense and attack while dictating tempo.

Head coach

Jocelyn Angloma, appointed in December 2017, is a legendary figure whose football journey spans elite European clubs and the international stage. Born in Guadeloupe in 1965, Angloma enjoyed a stellar playing career as a right-back, featuring for Marseille (winning the 1993 UEFA Champions League), Inter Milan, and Valencia. He earned 37 caps for France before representing Guadeloupe as a player in regional competitions.
