Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago, have been one of the Caribbean’s most accomplished football nations, with a solid but unspectacular Gold Cup history.

The Soca Warriors have participated in 12 Gold Cups since 1991, with their best modern-era finish being third place in 2000. Historically, their closest brush with continental glory came in 1973, finishing as runners-up in the CONCACAF Championship.

T&T has reached the quarterfinals twice in recent years (2013 and 2015) but has struggled to advance beyond the group stage in the last three editions. Their overall Gold Cup record stands at 8 wins, 11 draws, and 16 losses since 1991.

Coming out of a long period of being under the control of a FIFA Normalisation Committee, T&T is rebuilding its playing infrastructure and talent base but it is taking time. The upsets that T&T caused in the past are increasingly a long way behind them and this team needs to find an identity that puts the political and playing past behind them. They haven’t achieved that yet and the politics is still the biggest threat to their future.

In a tough group, any points would be a bonus at this point in time.

Star Players

  • Levi García (Spartak Moscow) – The Soca Warriors’ undisputed star and most electrifying attacking talent. Making his senior debut at just 18, García immediately announced himself with a brace in World Cup qualifying. Widely regarded as one of the Caribbean’s top exports.

  • Daniel Phillips (Stevenage) – A dynamic midfield engine combining grit and technical skill, anchoring the center of the park.
  • Andre Raymond (St. Johnstone) – Brings creativity and poise to Trinidad and Tobago’s midfield with vision and passing range.
  • Aubrey David (CSD Municipal) – The defensive general and rock at the back, known for his leadership and composure.
  • Christopher Biggette (Defence Force) – A commanding presence in goal with sharp reflexes and shot-stopping ability.

Head coach

Dwight Yorke, a legendary former Trinidad and Tobago international striker, was appointed head coach in November 2024. Yorke enjoyed a stellar playing career, most famously with Manchester United where he was key in their historic 1999 treble-winning squad. He showcased his managerial credentials by guiding Australian club Macarthur FC to the 2022 Australia Cup title but since he finished playing he has been more famous for his lifestyle than his football. He has a huge opportunity to make a difference.
