September 23 – English Premier League fans looking for value for money on their away trips should stop attending games in England and start travelling to Germany where the country and the Bundesliga offer much better value, according to the World Football Price Index.

September 23 – A breakdown of where the money went from the last transfer window finds that the overwhelming bulk of it – 70% – stayed within the Big 5 European leagues of England, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. And keeping it in the family proved particularly good for AS Monaco who took in €202 million in transfer fees and topped the list of clubs who profited from the summer trading window with a €121 million positive balance.

September 22 – Singaporean Rajendran R Kurusamy (pictured), the mastermind behind a conspiracy to fix a Southeast Asian (SEA) Games football match between Timor Leste and Malaysia, was sentenced to four years’ jail in Singapore on Monday.

September 22 – French organisers of the Euro2016 tournament have said that it is their intention that the tournament will galvanise more of the French youth into playing football and that through improved facilities the tournament will leave a sustainable legacy. To that end they have launched a number of social programmes.
