Besiktas signs record sponsorship with Tüpraş for Istanbul stadium naming rights

October 5 – Turkey’s Besiktas says it has signed the most valuable sponsorship deal in its 120-year history with Turkey’s largest industrial Turkey – Tüpraş.

UEFA confirms Turkey join Italy for Euro 2032 bid, leaving Britain and Ireland clear route to 2028

October 4 – UEFA have announced they have received the formal bid by Turkey and Italy to jointly host the 2032 European Championships, leaving Britain and Ireland as the sole bidder for the 2028 tournament, subject to final approval from the governing body’s executive committee next week.

Denmark’s Møller facing domestic fury for voting to allow Russia into Euro youth comps

October 4 – Danish FA (DBU) president Jesper Møller (pictured) has defended UEFA’s decision to let Russian U-17 national teams re-enter European competitions, refusing to disclose how he voted but opening the door to Danish teams playing Russia at youth level.

October 4 – Expressing its ‘upset’ at UEFA’s readmission of Russian youth teams to European competitions, the Ukrainian FA (UAF) has again called on European countries to boycott any matches against Russian teams.

Blundering VAR officials stood down after loss of focus on Spurs-Liverpool game

October 4 – A lapse of concentration and loss of focus by the VAR team led to Liverpool not being awarded a legitimate goal against Tottenham Hotspur, the referees’ body in England said on Tuesday after releasing the audio from the VAR hub from Saturday’s Premier League match.

October 4 – Kuwait’s Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, once a major player at FIFA,  has lodged a case against the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following his ban for “influencing” the election of his brother to a key Olympic post.

Busted: AFC calls off ACL tie between Sepahan vs Al-Ittihad over political messaging

 October 3 – The newly found football friendship between Iran and Saudi Arabia suffered its first set back Monday after the AFC called off the Champions League fixture between Sepahan and Al-Ittihad at the Naghsh-e-Jahan Stadium in Isfahan at the last minutes and with 60,000 fans in the stadium.

Nilsson and Møller under domestic pressure for voting for Russian return to UEFA competition

October 3 – Swedish UEFA vice-president Karl-Erik Nilsson and Danish executive committee member Jesper Møller are under pressure at home after the former backed the European governing body’s decision to allow the readmission of Russia’s under-17s teams to competitions, while the latter keeps shrouding the way he voted in mystery.
