Mexico 2-0 Suriname:
June 18 – The Mexican national team is perhaps the only country in world football that plays home matches in two countries. The Azteca Stadium in Mexico City is, of course, their spiritual home; however, in Los Angeles – where they roared to victory over the Dominican Republic – and tonight in the heart of Texas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington versus Suriname, the team is welcomed by partisan support and rapturous anticipation.
March 11 – Australian broadcaster SBS Sports has just secured the free-to-air rights for the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. Under this agreement SBS will air a featured match under the banner of Sunday Night Soccer every Monday morning.
March 11 – Serie A giants Juventus have previously spent time conquering European and Italian football, and they have now set their sights on the moon after announcing a partnership with Lunar Outpost, an aerospace company focused on space mobility and sustainability.
March 11 – Misfiring on the pitch, Arsenal have set their sights on a new sporting director in the hope of finding the elusive ingredient to win the Premier League, with Andrea Berta, formerly of Atlético Madrid, the favourite to fill the vacancy.
March 11 – The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has signed a new sponsorship agreement with official partner 5 to go which will run until 2031.
March 11 – Mexico does what Mexico wants, including the installation of an unelected president to represent the country’s federation on all international boards, meetings and at FIFA and Concacaf events.
March 11 – Major national team tournaments always have mascots who often become synonymous with the competition. Concacaf have taken the concept a stage further with the unveiling of Volar, the Confederation’s first-ever official mascot who will be deployed across all the confederation’s competitions.
March 10 – US President Donald Trump has established a 2026 World Cup task force to oversee preparations for FIFA’s flagship tournament.
Trump will chair the task force with vice president JD Vance serving as a vice chair while a yet unnamed executive director will oversee day-to-day operations. This summer the US will host the Club World Cup, a dress rehearsal for the 48-team finals co-hosted with neighbours Mexico and Canada.
March 10 – Fecafoot boss Samuel Eto’o has scored a victory at the highest court in sport to allow him to run for an executive committee seat at the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
