June 16 – Elle Macpherson (pictured), one of the most recognisable women in the world, is pledging her support of Australia’s campaign to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022, she has announced today.
The Supermodel and successful businesswoman joins an impressive list of internationally renowned Australians who have vocally backed the bid, including Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman and Ian Thorpe.
Known throughout the world as simply “The Body”, Macpherson has witnessed first hand the way her fellow Australians have welcomed great athletes from different sports in a friendly way.
The prospect of Australia hosting the greatest sports tournament in the world, Macpherson believes will be fitting way to promote everything that is positive about Australia to a global audience.
“There is a spirit openness that Australians share,” she said.
“Maybe it is a combination of the beautiful landscape and relaxed approach to life that inspires so many people to visit, what is very true is that the warm welcome visitors get certainly makes them want to stay!
“Sport is at the heart of the active lifestyles lived by so many Australians and so the chance to host the World Cup can only inspire future generations to stay active and healthy.
