July 1 – This weekend Premier League Manchester City are throwing their doors open to fans in what is called a ‘Cityzens Weekend’ to celebrate the arrival of Pep Guardiola and the launch of club’s new badge, website and home kit.
For the first time fans will be able to see behind the scenes at the City Football Academy, while other events will see the projection of new badge on Manchester Town Hall.
Tickets for the weekend are free but only available exclusively to Cityzens members.
The Cityzens Weekend is a very clear and loud statement by the club to mark what it is saying is a new era in its history and to make the club accessible to its supporters locally and internationally. No other English club has ever attempted such an ambitious event.
Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive Officer of Manchester City, commented: “ At Manchester City, we are embarking on an exciting new chapter in our history and we wanted to create an event that would allow thousands of fans to celebrate and participate in this, both here in Manchester and around the world.
“Cityzens Weekend will provide the perfect setting for fans to welcome our new manager, Pep Guardiola, to the Club and see the new kit and badge come to life across the Etihad Campus. We look forward to welcoming fans over the weekend and entering this new era together.”
Players from Manchester City men’s and women’s teams will be on hand while the focal point of the event will be Guardiola’s presentation to fans for the first time.
Fans worldwide will be able to follow events via the club’s media platforms, including broadcasts live on both the new website and Facebook Live. Fans will also be able to submit questions to Guardiola across the club’s social media platforms.
