Sparta Prague boss fries sexist players by sending them to train with women’s team

October 6 – Two players with Czech side Sparta Prague who caused outrage with their sexist comments have been told to train with the women’s team.

Goalkeeper Tomas Koubek had remarked that “women belong at the stove and should not officiate men’s football,” after assistant referee Lucie Ratajova did not flag an opponent offside in Sunday’s match against Brno FC.

After the match, which ended 3-3 – midfielder Lukas Vacha tweeted a picture with a sexist comment, which translated to “to the stove”.

Both subsequently apologised and Vacha said his comment “was directed to a specific error which affected the outcome of the game, not for any other women”.

But Sparta chief executive Adam Kotalík called the remarks “unacceptable” and took the novel response of punishing the pair by having them train with the women’s side for the next few days to see for themselves that women can do more than cook.
