Man City’s Chinese mobile partner TECNO Mobile reaches out to Africa

August 25 – Manchester City’s Official Tablet and Handset partner TECNO Mobile has launched an African marketing activation that will see 13 youth players from across Africa spend a week being coached at the City Football Academy.

Called the Blue Squad, the participants, aged 12-15, will be drawn from a wide range of African countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana and Egypt.

TECNO Mobile is a China-based mobile phone brand that has expanded to more than 40 emerging markets globally with Africa being a strategic focus of that expansion. The company has developed a number of mobile products specifically for the needs of the African mobile market.

TECNO has achieved accumulative sales volume of 120 million units globally and is one of the top three mobile brands in Africa and the leading market share in sub-Saharan Africa.

City Football Schools have been at the front of the club’s global expansion, taking the club brand into new territories with a number of different coaching initiatives and the support of the club’s first team squad within many of those programmes.
