August 7 – Manchester United has signed a multi-year global partnership with new launch mobile betting app MoPlay. The new mobile betting and gaming brand takes over from Marathonbet.
MoPlay is aggressively marketing itself as a game changer in the sports betting world under the hashtag #MoveOnUp. The betting company claims it provides “a fast, simple, personal and secure service, aimed at enhancing the user experience like never before.”
Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold said: “MoPlay are an innovative and dynamic company looking to further enhance our fans’ gaming experience. They are an exciting new brand that aims to modernise and improve the betting industry and we are delighted to be part of this journey.”
MoPlay’s betting offering focusses on live in-play experiences. Exclusive content for fans is at the core of the marketing agreement, alongside co-branded activations around the world.
MoPlay’s CEO, Juergen Reutter, says: “We are immensely proud to partner with what we regard as the biggest sports club in the world. Engaging in such a high-profile partnership so soon after our inception truly puts our exciting new brand on the map. As we embark on the first steps of our journey, it is our ambition to create the kind of successful dynasty Manchester United is renowned for.”
No figure was announced for the deal. MoPlay replaces Marathonbet as the Official Betting Partner of Manchester United. Marathon had previously replace Bwin in August 2015 who had paid £2.4 million for a three-season deal starting with the 2012-13 season. In March 2015 Bwin launched a Bwin Manchester United Casino which was replace by a Marathonbet casino app, which in turn was replaced by Marathonbet’s Manchester United branded casino app in August 2016. It seems likely this will be replaced by the MoPlay app.
