May 30 – The line-up for the Edinburgh Sports Conference, September 5-6 – titled ‘The Future of Football Transfers and Players’ Agents’ – will have Neymar Snr as one of its keynote attractions.
Father of one of the world’s best players in Neymar, Neymar Snr has been involved at every step of the player’s career from his early days at Santos to his move to Barcelona and his world record €222 million switch to PSG. He has sat across the business end of not just his transfer moves but also his sponsorship business.
Neymar Snr will be featured ‘in conversation’ with one of Brazil’s leading sports lawyers and agents, Marcos Motta.
Also on the conference programme is an interview with Fabio Capello, one of the world’s most travelled managers who includes England and Russian national teams on his CV.
Other speakers will include the head of FIFA’s legal department, Emilio García Silvero, who will examine the recent developments in football regulation; Michele Bernasconi, partner at Bär & Karrer, who will review CAS case law on players’ agents; and Kimberly Morris, Head of FIFA TMS and Compliance, who will review the summer 2019 transfer window and the additional data captured by the TMS.
Other sessions will examine the impact of Financial Fair Play on the transfer market (led by Andrea Traverso, the managing director of Financial Sustainability & Research at UEFA); and the impact of domestic and international Financial Fair Play rules on transfers that will see Scottosh football leaders Neil Doncaster (Scottish Professional Football League) and Leeann Dempster, Hibernian FC, on the panel.
