October 30 – Mouscron vs STVV has been postponed in the Belgian Pro league after the Walloon club registered 21 coronavirus cases among its players.
Last week, Belgium returned to matches behind closed doors to curb the spread of the coronavirus, but as numbers spike further in Belgium Mouscron has struggled to contain the virus.
The club has quarantined the entire squad and technical staff until Monday. Last week, 13 players tested positive leading to the postponement of Mouscron’s away match at Cercle Brugge. In the meantime, the number of infections has risen to 21 forcing the match against STVV to be postponement as well.
League rules allow a club to demand postponement as soon as seven players have tested positive. Waasland-Beveren and KV Mechelen have been the other clubs to struggle with the coronavirus. In the second division, Deinze vs Seraing has been delayed as well.
Belgium is struggling to contain the second wave of the coronavirus and recorded more than 15,000 coronavirus cases on average a day in the past week.
