Matchfixing: Slovak FA beefs up betting monitoring with Starlizard partnership

February 2 – Starlizard Integrity Services (SIS) have agreed a strategic partnership to combat match-fixing with the Slovak Football Association (SFA) beginning immediately.

The SIS will monitor the country’s top-flight Fortuna Liga in addition to the Slovakia Cup and Slovakia Super Cup for irregular and suspicious betting patterns.

SIS have a number of monitoring agreements in place including with FIFA, UEFA and LaLiga and have recently expanded capacity to increase service to national associations.

The Slovakia deal will include the sports integrity group investigating specific allegations of match-fixing and match-manipulation in Slovakian football and cooperating with the SFA on any investigations into illicit activity, including assisting with police investigations.

“The partnership underlines the commitment of the Slovak Football Association to preserving the integrity of football in our country. We are delighted to be working with SIS,” said Jakub Čavoj, the SFA’s Integrity Officer.

Starlizard have built a business around a deep understanding of betting markets worldwide, servicing a group of private clients. SIS is its sports integrity arm that was founded in 2010 and uses insights to identify betting market discrepancies and suspicious patterns, as well as analysing on-pitch performance data.

Affy Sheikh, Head of Starlizard Integrity Services, said: “We are honoured to have been entrusted by the Slovak Football Association to help them in their dedicated efforts to keep the national game clean. Match-fixing is a scourge in football and it is great to see the SFA taking pre-emptive steps to minimise the risk.”
