ELEVEN grabs AFC rights to drive Asian expansion

October 6 – Fast growing broadcast platform ELEVEN has secured a package of Asian football rights from the AFC to spearhead the launch of its channels into Hong Kong and five south-east Asian territories.

ELEVEN becomes a new media partner for the Asian Football Confederations (AFC) in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Philippines.

The rights package includes the remaining Asian qualifiers for Qatar 2022 for Hong Kong and Thailand, whilst from 2022 to 2024, the deal will extend to cover broadcast rights for all AFC competitions across the six territories.

The rights will help drive ELEVEN’s launch and growth in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. ELEVEN has said itwill build OTT platforms in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines by 2022, with their D2C (direct to consumer) offering complemented by local linear distribution deals.

ELEVEN has local platforms in Belgium, Italy, Japan, Luxemburg, Poland, Portugal, Chinese Taipei, a global streaming platform at ElevenSports.com and recently acquired the US based sports and entertainment group Team Whistle. ELEVEN also acquired Mycujoo which is already a partner with a number of Asian FAs with its OTT platform.
