April 21 – The US will open the inaugural 2022 Concacaf W Championship against Haiti in the Estadio Universitario stadium in Monterrey, Mexico, on July 4. They will be followed by hosts Mexico against Jamaica.
Concacaf has announced the match schedule for the eight-team W Championship which will serve as the region’s final round of qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 and as a qualifier to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
On July 5 at the Estadio BBVA, Costa Rica and Panama will open Group B play, followed by Canada vs Trinidad and Tobago.
Group matches will complete on Monday July 11, with the top two from each group going through to the July 14 semis (and automatically qualifying for Australia/New Zealand 2023). The final will be played July 18 in the Estadio BBVA.
The US are the current Concacaf champions, having beaten Canada 2-0 in the 2018 final in Frisco, Texas. The US as the current World Champions and Canada as the current Olympic champions, are hot favourites to contest the final again in Monterrey.
