SIGA sets September dates for Sport Integrity Week on Portuguese Riviera

May 5 – SIGA has set September 12-16 as the dates for its 2022 Sport Integrity Week (#SIW2022) which will become an in-person event but will retain its successful digital format of the past two years.

Hosted by the municipality of Cascais, near Lisbon on the Portuguese Riviera, the flagship event will be staged at Nova School of Business and Economics where more than 250 global leaders representing the world of sport, government, business, media, technology and youth will share best practice, deliver solutions to current and future challenges and debate the journey towards enhancing Sport’s governance.

#SIW2022 will comprise multiple interactive stages presenting panel debates, one-to-one sessions and keynote speeches. SIGA is building into the programme the opportunity to meet and engage with speakers and panellists directly.

Global issues will be extended by specific continental content via bespoke Continental Stages (Stage America, Stage Latin America, Stage Europe, Stage Africa, Stage Oceania and Stage Asia), including both digital and in-person components.

SIGA’s Global CEO, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, said: “The post-pandemic world is eager for recovery with integrity, stability and peace. Sport must lead the way by championing integrity and values, on and off the field of play. This is what SIGA stands for and what the #SIW2022 will be actively facilitating.”

As well as the conference programme SIGA will also run editions of its successful ‘Satellite Events’ series dedicated to specific key Sport Integrity themes, including:

  • #SIGAWomen Lounge: SIGA WoW Lounge, Executive Education and Global Mentorship on Female Leadership in Sport;
  • SIGA Youth Hangout: SIGA Youth Leadership, Empowerment and Cultural Change in Sport;
  • SIGA Earth Forum: Social Responsibility Forum, Environment and Sustainability in Sport;
  • SIGA Tech Hub: Technology, Innovation and Integrity in Sport;
  • SIGA GRID Forum: Gender, Race, Inclusion and Diversity; and
  • SIGA Solutions: Training, Education and Capacity Building on Sport and Integrity

SIGA has also opening a Request for Proposal process this month to present stakeholders with the opportunity to become directly involved with the event.

“I invite all like-minded organisations and individuals to seize this momentous occasion. Whether in-person, in Cascais, or digitally, wherever you are in the world, join us and press for change. The Sport Integrity Week is your chance to pave the way towards a new era in Sport. A Sport governed and operated under the highest integrity standards,” said de Medeiros.
