July 13 – The noise around club Fan Tokens has died down recently following the cryptocurrency crash and criticism of the low tradeable values of the tokens. It hasn’t, however, stopped Real Sociedad becoming the seventh LaLiga club on the socios.com platform.
Real Sociedad’s $RSO fan token joins more than 150 sporting organisations on the Socios app that is built on the Chiliz blockchain.
Other football clubs on the platform include Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, Valencia, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan. In South America club giants River Plate, Flamengo and Corinthians have also signed up.
Socios.com is a marketing partner of LaLiga. To service the six clubs signed up – FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Levante UD, Valencia CF, Sevilla FC and now Real Sociedad – Socios.com is building a marketing and activation hub for the fan token launches and administration.

Fan Token holders will also receive unique digital rewards, including NFTs, as well as merchandise and match-worn jerseys, while also being eligible to access exclusive discounts linked to club sponsors and other special offers and incentives linked to major brands, said Socios.com.
More than 1.5 million users from 167 countries have downloaded the app, and Socios.com says it will run more than 500 club polls this year.
Alexandre Dreyfus, Founder and CEO of Socios.com, said: “With this partnership Socios.com adds another LaLiga champion to its roster, strengthening our leadership in the considered best football league in the world.” The Premier League and Socios.com’s partners in it, might argue differently with that comment.
No launch price was given for the Real Sociedad fan token, nor launch date, though Socios.com said it would be “soon”.
