Mastercard joins partner roster for Sport Integrity Week, September 12-16

August 3 – Mastercard has stepped up to partner with SIGA and its Sport Integrity Week 2022 that will take place in Cascais, Portugal, from September 12-16.

Mastercard has been a consistent supporter of SIGA, and most recently has partnered a number of initiatives of the SIGAWomen programme, including a focus on promoting gender equity in the boardroom of sports organisations as part of good governance.

Mastercard will sponsor the SIGAWoW – Women on Wednesdays – Sunset Lounge, which will be one of the highlights of #SIW2022 and will complete the activities taking place on the third day of the week. Earlier that day, there will be a high level panel session dedicated to this topic, including high profile speakers from World Rugby, NWSL, Under Armour, Yale,  and the European Commission.

Mastercard joins the Municipality of Cascais and the British Standards Institute (BSI), as a strategic partner of SIGA’s flagship event.

Alison Giordano, Vice President, Global Sponsorships and Consumer Marketing, Mastercard, elected Vice Chair of the SIGA Council representing Mastercard, said: “Mastercard’s core values of having diversity and inclusion engrained in our corporate governance extends to the sports properties we partner with. We have supported SIGA’s mission for Sport Integrity worldwide from the very start and are passionate about promoting female leadership in Sport. That is why we are proud to partner with SIGA during the 2022 Sport Integrity Week and look forward to an impactful and purpose-driven SIGA WoW Sunset Lounge!”

Katie Simmonds, Global Chief Operating Officer, SIGA and Managing Director #SIGAWomen, highlighted Mastercard’s commitment to SIGA’s goals in the area of gender equity.

“Mastercard has championed the SIGAWomen agenda since the very beginning, participating in our Global Mentorship Programme and, more recently, hosting the SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport,” said Simmonds.

“Creating pathways for meaningful change in the sports industry is possible if we unite efforts and global brands, such as Mastercard, that have diversity and inclusion at their core. This is undoubtedly an exciting and dynamic time for women’s sport, and female leadership in the board room is equally as important.”
