England’s Mead, Germany’s Oberdorf and Spain’s Putellas battle for UEFA Player of the Year gong

August 17 – Beth Mead (England – Arsenal Women), Lena Oberdorf (Germany – VfL Wolfsburg), and Alexia Putellas (Spain – FC Barcelona) at the final three nominees in the running for the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.

They have come top of an initial shortlist of 22 players following votes by a jury composed of the coaches of the teams which participated in this summer’s Women’s EURO 2022, coaches of the clubs which played in the group stage of the 2021/22 Women’s Champions League, and a selected group of journalists.

Women’s Coach of the Year

Sonia Bompastor (France – Olympique Lyonnais), Martina Voss-Tecklenberg (Germany – Germany women’s national team) and Euro 2022 winner, and Sarina Wiegman (Netherlands – England women’s national team), are the final three nominees for the UEFA Women’s Coach of the Year.

They head an initial shortlist of five coaches was provided by the UEFA technical study group and voted on by a jury similar to the player of the year jury.

The winners and final results of the UEFA women’s and men’s player and coach awards for season 2021/22 will be announced at the 2022/23 Champions League group stage draw ceremony, which will take place on August 25 at the Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul.
