Qatar to allow entry for un-ticketed fans once group stage ends

November 4 – Qatar authorities are relaxing strict entry rules during the later phase of the World Cup and will now allow in fans without tickets from December 2 when the group stage ends.

“We’re delighted to announce today that non-ticketed fans can enter the State of Qatar after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group Stage – starting from 2 December 2022 – to enjoy the unique tournament atmosphere here with teams and fans in the country,” ministry spokesman Jabr Hammoud Jabr al-Nuaimi said on Thursday.

Those who want to travel to Qatar still need to apply for a so-called Hayya card, which acts as a visa and Fan ID and provides free access to public transport.

About 1.2 million international visitors are expected to head to the tiny emirate during the month-long tournament

Demand for accommodation during the group stage – including hotels, apartments, hired cruise ships and campsites – is at breaking point with fans encouraged to stay in neighbouring states and take flights to Doha for games.
