Argentina put 6,000 fans on Qatar 2022 no-go list

November 8 – Argentine authorities have drawn up a list of 6,000 fans who will be banned from attending the World Cup.

“We want to bring peace back to football,” said Buenos Aires city’s Justice and Security Minister Marcelo D’Alessandro

In June, the national security ministry signed a cooperation agreement with the Qatari embassy to prevent violent Argentine fans from travelling to the World Cup.

“They were included for belonging to the ‘barras’ [violent fans], for participating in violent acts, for illicit associations such as ‘trapitos’ [banned street businesses] and for owing maintenance payments [from divorced parents],” D’Alessandro added.

Half of those barred are so-called ‘barrabravas’ who are not allowed to attend local league matches either.
