AFC switches media partner in China with Shinai picking up rights

November 18 – Having terminated their broadcast and commercial rights deal with Super Sports Media over non-payment, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has quickly found a new partner in China with Beijing Shinai Sports Media Technology Co. Ltd.

Shinai was already a key licensee of rights under the old Super Sports Media deal. The AFC said: “The new arrangement directly between the AFC and Shinai will provide continuity to local football fans in terms of their viewing experience as well as commercial partners within China.”

Competitions covered by the agreement include the AFC club competitions in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, the U23 Asian Cup in 2024 and the flagship AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
Shinai will provide content from all of the AFC’s competitions – including on the iQiyi Sports platform – until the end of the 2021-2024 rights cycle.

The deal will be managed by the AFC’s commercial partner Football Marketing Asia Limited, who hold exclusive rights to the AFC’s competitions for the 2021-2024 and 2025-2028 cycles.
