Serie A push international expansion with Abu Dhabi office to follow New York opening

November 18 – Italy’s Serie A is to open an office in the UAE in Abu Dhabi in January 2023 with the launch of the affiliate Lega Serie A Mena FZ-LLC.

The UAE presence follows on from the launch of an office in New York as the league pushes its international expansion plans.

The Abu Dhabi office will oversee the MENA Region (Middle East and North Africa) and will be led by Alfonso De Stefano, co-ordinating with the Serie A marketing and commercial office, and defining common strategies for Serie A in the region.

“We are very happy to carry forward our project of global expansion for the “calcio” product and of facing new challenges that represent fundamental steps for the Italian soccer internationalisation,” said Luigi De Siervo, Serie A CEO .

“With our presence and with the opening of the new office, we set ourselves the goal of being closer to historic fans and supporters in a strategic market such as the Middle East.. We are also developing entertainment initiatives for fans through the localisation of Lega Serie A events with presence of teams, players and legends. Thanks to our regional broadcasters partners, Abu Dhabi Media and Starzplay we will bring Calcio close to the fans for a unique and immersive experience,” continued De Siervo.

“We are convinced, thanks to the diffusion of our product in these areas, in the future many young talents from the Middle East will have the chance to play regularly in Serie A.”
