Italian Super Cup to make ‘goal’ balls collectible for AC Milan and Inter fan token holders

January 18 – Fans looking to own the ultimate piece of memorabilia, the ball that was used to score a goal, will now have the opportunity to do so for tonight’s EA Sports Supercup between AC Milan and Inter Milan in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The digital ‘goal’ balls are exclusively redeemable to Inter and AC Milan Fan Token holders on Socios.com, and will form part of Socios Collectibles, a hub for blockchain verified real-life collectibles on the app, powered by Gameused.com.

As a goal is scored, the ball will be taken by the referee who will hand it to a Lega Serie A representative who will seal it, note the minute of the goal and the scorer, and place it in a Socios.com branded display case. The moment will be photographed, before the ball, in its display case, is sent to Chiliz HQ, where it will be verified by the Gameused.com team and integrated with an NFC chip.

Gameused.com verifies memorabilia through the Chiliz Blockchain and uses embedded NFC (near-field communication) chips, allowing collectors to immediately authenticate memorabilia using their smartphones. The ball owner will be able to replay the actual goal scored.

Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A said: “Thanks to this initiative we will be the first League, through the partnership with Socios.com, to allow fans to own the iconic object par excellence of a Final, the ball of a goal. This is not only about the enhancement of the Lega Serie A product, but also about making tangible the unique emotions that soccer knows how to give fans around the world”.
