May 5 – Mediapro has renewed its international broadcast representation deal with Spain’s LaLiga for a further five years.
Mediapro will sell rights in all territories except MENA and North America, where LaLiga already has regional partners.
Under the new agreement, LaLiga said it will “lead the aspects related to audiovisual strategy, market analysis, deadlines for entering each of the markets, etc., either directly or through the group’s subsidiary companies.”
At the same time as renewing the Mediapro deal, LaLiga has announced a a50% joint venture with Ocho Sport Advisors that will work on LaLiga’s audiovisual strategy, “which will involve a transformation of the global audiovisual strategy on anational and international level”.
Ocho is led by Simon Denyer, former CEO of DAZN and Perfom. The joint venture, named PEAK, will refocus thecommercialisation of LaLiga’s rights, in particular taking advantage of new digital, data driven and OTT strategies.
