Haaland vs Vinicius: World’s highest valued players face off in football’s biggest club comp

May 16 – Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior head a worldwide evaluation of player transfer values at €200 million.

Real Madrid transfer target Jude Bellingham is ranked joint third at €150 million alongside Pedri González (Barcelona), Jamal Musiala (Bayern), and Kylian Mbappe (PSG).

The data from the CIES Football Observatory takes into account 1,229 clubs in 74 leagues around the world. For each player, the data looks at the proportion that his value represents with respect to the total value of all footballers under contract with its owner club.

The top 25 ranked players are all playing at clubs in Europe’s Big 5 leagues.

Taking a different approach to player valuation, the CIES has launched a new tool providing access to the estimated value of more than 30,000 professional players worldwide under a scenario with a contractual duration of at least three years.

“Vinícius Júnior (>€250 million), Kylian Mbappé (also >€250 million) and Erling Haaland (>€200 million) are in the top three positions of this virtual ranking. Gianluigi Donnarumma tops the table for goalkeepers, Éder Militão for centre backs, Reece James for full backs and Jude Bellingham for midfielders,” finds the CIES.
