India U-17s start DFB organised training camp in preparation for Asian Cup in Thailand

May 17 – India’s U-17 national team has started a 15-day training camp in Germany arrives as part of their preparations for the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup to be held in Thailand later this year.

The Indians will visit the DFB Campus, Germany’s new training facility for its national teams, and train with FC Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart youth teams as part of a tailored training camp programme devised between the clubs, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the German Football Association (DFB).

The tour is one of the first activations following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two federations in September 2022.

AIFF Secretary General Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran said: “We would like to have a long-term collaboration with our partners in Germany, and the training of the U-17 team there is just the beginning. We will have elaborate discussions in the near future and fine-tune our partnership with the DFB, where we see young talents get a bigger stage in Germany in the future, whereby we gain from the expertise of German football to further develop the game in India.”

Bundesliga content partner and leading digital sports hub Khel Now follow the team and report the action from the training camp. As well as broadcasting matches, Khel Now will cover the team’s journey with daily vlogs, interviews and behind-the-scenes access.

Christina Gassner, DFB Director Institutional and Political Relations & Strategy, said: “The visit of the AIFF U-17 team ahead of the tournament in Thailand is a very good example of the close partnership between the DFB and the AIFF. We wish the team well for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup and are looking forward to further developing the ties to our Indian friends.”
