Google becomes official sponsor of German women’s team

May 26 – The German FA (DFB) has signed a three-year deal with Google to become the official sponsor of the national women’s team with its Google Pixel brand.

Google will have a set of digital rights, in particular in social media, and is committing to use its digital technology to increase the visibility and promotion of women’s football and women in sport in Germany.

Marketing rights include backdrops and LED boards. The women’s national team and individual players will be integrated into a national ‘Google Pixel’ communications campaign featuring stories and behind-the-scenes video that will be shared across multiple platforms.

“Google not only brings an extraordinarily strong brand and innovative technologies, but also shares our vision of supporting women in football in Germany. Together we are committed to increasing the visibility and popularity of women’s football, which also makes a valuable contribution to our internal strategy FF27,” said says Dr. Holger Blask, Managing Director Marketing, Sales & Events at DFB GmbH & Co. KG.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet & Google, says: “I’ve been a football fan since I was a child. That’s why I’ve followed with excitement how women’s football has developed in recent years. The passion of the Germans for football has contributed a lot to this. We are very pleased to enter into a three-year partnership with the German Football Association… We will work together with the DFB to further promote women’s football in Germany.”
