LaLiga looks for a little Xtra from new mobile content offer

May 30 – LaLiga has signed with Digital Virgo to deliver an expanded content offer, LaLiga Xtra, to mobile screens, that will be licensed to telecoms companies and mobile content buyers.

LaLiga said the new service has already been licensed in 18 countries across South America, Europe and MENA, includingFrance, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, and Morocco.

LaLiga Xtra will not broadcast live matches but will have exclusive LaLiga content, quizzes, and a Fantasy Football associated app. It is designed to be used as a second screen to enhance the TV experience. Live results, advancedstatistics, and breaking news will be part of the content experience.

This arrangement willhelp us promote the value and importance of Spanish football to a global audience in addition to providing our supporters with access to a range of services.”

LaLiga pointed to Statista data showing that 77% of people use their smartphone while watching TV, and 35% use applications.

The Digital Virgo Group is a specialist in mobile payment via Telecom operators’ billing solutions worldwide.
