Japan’s Brilliantcrypto sign with PSG for global launch

August 2 – French champions Paris Saint-Germain have secured a two-year global partnership with Japanese game developers Brilliantcrypto.

The deal will see the club feature prominently in the Brilliantcrypto play-to-earn gaming landscape, which focusses on mining for virtual gemstones using a purchasable, equally-virtual pick-axe. Once the gemstones are collected, they hold real-world monetary value for players.

Several PSG players are already present on the site with Brilliantcrypto using the PSG deal to launch the game worldwide.

Sébastien Wasels, Managing Director of Paris Saint-Germain in Asia-Pacific, commented: “This partnership represents the 12th deal signed by the Club’s Asia Pacific office since its opening, highlighting the strong positioning of Paris Saint-Germain in the region.

“It is an honour to have an ambitious partner like Brilliantcrypto place its trust in our Club to promote its brand and bring forth a revolutionary game that will allow our fans around the world to interact with the club on a whole new level.”

No term or value was given for the partnership.

Wasels continued: “With its unique positioning as a lifestyle brand, a strong presence of over 200 million fans on social media and a growing permanent and physical presence in many countries such as Japan via official stores and PSG academies, Paris Saint-Germain has strengthened its ability to support its partners and their objectives worldwide. We look forward to working together with Brilliantcrypto to develop creative and impactful campaigns.”

Ligue 1’s most titled club are currently touring East Asia having spent the past fortnight in Japan, where their new partners were founded. The tour has seen the club play Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in a goalless affair, followed by a 3-2 defeat to Cerezo Osaka at the Nagai Stadium. They also lost to a heavily-rotated Inter Milan side in Tokyo.

French superstar Kylian Mbappe is not on the tour and is also absent from any branding on the BrilliantCrypto website, where Neymar takes centre stage.

Naruatsu Baba, CEO of Brilliantcrypto, said: “Our game is a provocative project that will implement the “Proof of Gaming” concept, aiming to make sustainable play-to-earn※1 a reality, and generate real economic value.

“For this project, achieving global recognition is essential. I am therefore very pleased that we have partnered with Paris Saint-Germain, a top global brand known for its innovation. Through this partnership with Paris Saint-Germain, who have many enthusiastic fans globally, especially in Southeast Asia and Latin America where many blockchain gamers reside, we plan to generate lots of excitement across the world.”
