Deals not done: Hammers try to nail Kudus deal, Lukaku set for Serie A return

August 23 – Liverpool have had a €30 million bid for 22-year-old Brazil international midfielder Andre rejected by Fluminense, who want to keep the player until the end of the Brazilian Serie A season in December.

Known for his aggression and drive, the player would add a much-needed punch into Liverpool’s midfield and allow more depth in midfield and allow Mac Allister to reassume his attacking duties.

Valued at €15 million on Transfermarkt, Andre has double the market value of any other player at Fluminese. He has a €40 million release clause in his contract that Liverpool could activate to secure the player this window, but it is equally likely they return in January for a cut-price once the Serie A season has concluded.

West Ham continue their pursuit of 23-year-old Ajax star Mohammed Kudus, who impressed in the World Cup, scoring twice in securing Ghana’s win over South Korea. The East London club have had a bid rejected of about £35 million for the midfielder, and are expected to bid again in the region of £40 million.

Ajax are stalling negotiations in the belief that another club could join the race and drive the price up even further, with eyes drifting to Chelsea to make the next official bid after solidifying their interest in the Ghanaian international.

AS Roma’s General Manager Lina Souloukou has flown to London to pursue a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku that would see him rejoin old boss Jose Mourinho.

The Belgian goalscorer moved to Chelsea in 2021 for €113 million from Inter Milan, where he spent last season on loan after an unsuccessful first season in London. The 30-year-old is currently training with Chelsea U21s as the club look to move him on. Inter were favourites to land the goalscorer but reportedly feel betrayed by Lukaku’s desire to join rivals Juventus. Lukaku has three years left on his current deal with Chelsea, and is valued at €40 million.

Eintracht Frankfurt and France international striker Randal Kolo Muani has been strongly linked to PSG, who are preparing a fresh proposal after agreeing personal terms with the player last week. The €80 million-rated striker has agreed to a five-year deal that would make him the latest high-profile attacker to join Les Parisiens following the acquisition of Ousmane Dembele and Gonçalo Ramos this summer. Kolo Muani scored the only goal of Eintracht Frankfurt’s league campaign thus far in a 1-0 victory over Darmstadt last weekend.

Steven Gerrard has extinguished links between his SPL side Al Ettifaq and English attacker Mason Greenwood, who has been permanently dropped by Manchester United. The ex-Liverpool captain took to Instagram to put an end to the rumour, branding an article stating Greenwood was Saudi-bound with ‘FAKE NEWS’.
