October 10 – Ticket sales for the Asian Cup in Qatar went on sale today with match tickets starting at 25QAR (€6.5).
With less than 100 days to go until the Asian Cup kickoff, Qatari organisers tickets on sale for all 51 matches and with the promise that fans will once again be able to attend two matches per day, mirroring the logistics of last year’s World Cup. A Hayya card, however, will not be required on this occasion.
“The launch of ticket sales marks an important milestone for us, as Qatar gets ready to welcome fans from around the world once again. We anticipate that there will be tremendous interest in the tournament, which will see the best players from across Asia compete for glory,” said Hassan Al Kuwari, marketing and communications executive director of the local organising committee.
The tournament will be a throwback to last year’s World Cup, the first in the Middle East, with organisers relying on the venues to deliver the competition. Seven World Cup venues will feature at the Asian Cup – they are the Lusail, Al Bayt, Khalifa International, Al Janoub, Ahmad bin Ali, Al Thumama and Education City stadiums.
The Jassim bin Hamad Stadium and Abdulla bin Khalifa Stadium will also serve as venues. The Lusail Stadium will host the opening match between hosts Qatar and Lebanon on January 12 and the final on February 10.
It is the third time that Qatar will host Asia’s flagship tournament after staging the continental finals in 1988 and 2011.
