Tetovo in North Macedonia give go ahead for new stadium that will host national team games

November 24 – The North Macedonian government is continuing to invest in sports facilities in the country, with the mayor of Tetovo, Bilall Kasami, announcing that the municipality will construct a €9.7 million new stadium in the city.

The new facility will be built on the site of the city’s current stadium (pictured), which is used by FC Shkëndija, and will have a capacity of 12,000 seats and will take three years to build.

Once finished it will be the home of FC Shkëndija and will host some national team games.

Local authorities are now in the process of selecting a construction company for the stadium.

“After only two years of determination and commitment to serve our citizens, we have managed to make a visible difference, which shows that we can change the face of our city. Today we proudly announce that Tetovo will get a new and modern stadium! In a short period of two years of governance, we worked with dedication and determination to bring high level sports infrastructure to our city,” said an announcement by the city.

“The new stadium is a reflection of our efforts to build an environment conducive to the development of sporting events and to foster a passion for sports among our community. This is just the beginning of the long journey towards the development and progress of Tetovo.”

Kasami posted on his Facebook profile: “We keep our word, because our promises are not just empty words. In just two years of governance, we accomplish what others failed to do for decades! Tetovo with a modern stadium.”
