Serie A players mark elimination of violence against women day

November 27 – Players and coaches across Serie A had red marks painted on their faces to promote a campaign for the elimination of violence against women at the weekend.

The initiative coincided with rallies across Italy to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The slogan for the initiative translated as “a red card against violence.”

Meanwhile former Italian striker Mario Balotelli had a lucky escape after a car crash in his hometown of Brescia.

The incident occurred at 8.30pm on Thursday and Italian media reported that Balotelli, known for several controversial incidents on and off the pitch during an eventful career, refused to take a breathalyser test after crashing into a wall.

Despite the impact, Balotelli managed to exit the wreckage and received immediate attention from paramedics.

The incident came shortly after Balotelli’s return to Turkish Super Lig side Adana Demirspor, where he has made an impressive impact with three goals in five games.
