Concacaf reveals venues and schedule for inaugural 2024 W Gold Cup

November 9  The inaugural 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup will be played across three venues in Southern California and one in Houston.

The Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, greater Los Angeles, will open the tournament with a triple header of play-in matches on February 20, followed three days later by the opening of the tournament proper and the USA’s opening game.

The 25,174-cpcaity Dignity Health Sports Park stadium is the home of the LA Galaxy and the complex is the national team training headquarters for the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF). All the US’s group A games will be played there.

Group B, into which Brazil has been seeded, will see all matches played at the 35,000-capacity Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, while Group C (Canada top seeded) will be played in Houston at the 20,000-capacity Shell Energy Stadium, the home of the Houston Dash and the Houston Dynamo.

San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium will host Group B, semi-finals and finals

All four quarter finals will be played at the 22,000-capacity BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, home of Angel City of the NWSL and LAFC of the MLS.

The semi-finals and final will be played at the Snapdragon Stadium.

“The Concacaf W Gold Cup is a key part of the Confederation’s women’s football strategy that we launched in 2019, with the aim of developing and growing all aspects of the women’s game in our region. It promises to be a high-quality tournament showcasing some of the best teams and players in the world,” said Concacaf President Victor Montagliani.

“I want to personally thank the four cities and venues for their commitment to Concacaf and women’s football. They will all make tremendous hosts for a competition celebrating the best of women’s football.”

The 12-team finals will see eight Concacaf nations compete with four guest nations from Conmebol.

Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Paraguay have already qualified from South America, and Canada and the USA from Concacaf have now been joined by El Salvador.

Concacaf have two more rounds of group qualification to compete early December which will see a further two teams qualify from the Women’s Nations League League A groups – Mexico look favourites to fill one of the slots, while Jamaica would normally be expected to go through but have to win their final two group games to go through automaticalle.

Six teams will qualify for the Preliminary Round which will comprise three knockout games to be played on February 17 – the winners qualifying for the finals group stage.

The three group winners, runners-up, and the two best third-place finishers will advance to the tournament’s Quarterfinals.

The draw for the group stage will be held December 11.
