Groups drawn for Copa America 2024 in the US

December 8 – World Cup 2022 winners Argentina will face Peru, Chile and a Concacaf qualifier in the group stages of their defense of their Copa America title in the USA next summer.

Their arch rivals Brazil will do battle with Colombia, Paraguay and a Concacaf qualifier in their group. Both nations will be confident of progressing the quarter finals of the 48th edition of the Copa America and the second to be hosted in the USA.

Mexico, one of the four seeded teams in the draw, look to have a tougher task ahead of them being drawn with Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica. Ecuador with the English Premier League’s record transfer Moises Caiceido have been moving up the world rankings, while Venezuela are a point ahead of them in Conmebol qualifying for the 2026 World Cup

Jamaica could prove to be the dark horses in the group, and potentially the competition, if they can continue the improvement that saw them beat Canada last month to qualify for their first Nations League finals.

The USA have a difficult group being drawn with Uruguay who are ranked two places above them in the world rankings. Panama, who beat the US in the Gold Cup semi-finals this summer, are also in the group, along with Bolivia.

Played from June 20 to July 14 next year, the tournament will be hosted in 14 stadiums, four on the West Coast, five in the Central Region and five on the East Coast. The opening match will be played in Atlanta with the final in Miami.
