The stadium draws its design inspiration from the traditional dhow sail boats. After the World Cup 2022 finals it became the home ofthe Al-Wakrah Sports Club. It was designed by Zaha Hadid.
One of Qatar’s oldest continuously inhabited areas, Al Wakrah was long a centre for pearl diving and fishing.
