Levski Sofia agree three-year deal to repay debt owed to Bulgarian state

June 4 – Bulgaria’s Levski Sofia have successfully concluded negotiations with the country’s National Revenue Agency (NRA) to reschedule debt owed to the state over the next three years.

The negotiations, concluded at the end of the year, saw the club announce yesterday (Wednesday) that they would pay €110,000 a month (36 payments in total) to settle the debt.

“The management of PFC Levski has successfully concluded negotiations with the National Revenue Agency and rescheduled its public obligations to the state for a period of 3 years. This became official with an act of the NRA dated 28.12.2023,” said the club statement.

The BGN 220,000 (€110,000)  month payment will clear off all debts accumulated in the past together with the interest accrued, which in total amount to BGN 9,980,000 (€4,990,000).

Levski also owes an additional nearly BGN 2 million to the Municipality of Sofia for garbage fees and other expenses. Thus, the total amount that Levski must pay to the state every month amounts to BGN 279,000 (€139 500) .

Last year, Levski reached an agreement with the National Revenue Agency to provide 30% of the club’s income to repay its debt.

With the new agreement between Levski and the NRA, the club will be clear to obtain a license to play next season from the Bulgarian Football Union and enable them to play in UEFA club competition.
