Transfer talk: Everton stars heading for exit, Man Utd hunt for a striker to make a big entrance

January 9 – Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on Everton and England U-21 defender Jarrad Branthwaite after impressing in his debut year in the Premier League. The 21-year-old has seen his Transfermarkt value more than triple since the start of the year and seems destined for an England call up in the near future.

As it stands, Branthwaite (pictured) could join Jude Bellingham to form the first English duo at Los Blancos since David Beckham and Michael Owen.

Belgium and Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has revealed that he is keen on a move to Arsenal. Everton have set a £60 million fee for 22-year-old Belgian in an effort to fend off interest until the summer, with Manchester United also interested after Casemiro’s drop in form and with Sofyan Amrabat still yet to convince the club of his place in the team.

The latest twist in Manchester United’s striker hunt comes in the form of Lille’s 22-year-old Canadian striker Jonathan David. The highly-rated forward has scored five goals this term, but did deliver a 24-goal haul last season for Lille.

The Red Devils are also linked with a plethora of other attacking options including FC Bayern duo Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting and Thomas Muller alongside in-form Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

Timo Werner, who was on Man Utd’s shortlist, is on the verge of a move to Spurs in a deal that could be announced before the end of the week. The 27-year-old German international, worth an estimated €17 million according to Transfermarkt, could reignite his career with a move to North London. Werner had a disappointing stint at Chelsea after signing for €53 million in 2020, despite helping the blues to their second Champions League title in 2021 and subsequent Club World Cup.

After transferring back to Leipzig in 2022 for a cut-price €20 million, the German enjoyed a decent first year back in Germany. Since the summer, Werner has been unable to make an impact due to the rise of new signing Lois Openda, scoring twice across only 200 minutes of Bundesliga football.

Liverpool’s 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder Fabio Carvalho is set to join Championship side Hull City on loan for the remainder of the season. Originally signed for a cut-price deal of €5.9 million in Summer 2022, the youngster was sent on loan to RB Leipzig in July after a mixed first season in red, in a deal that was cut short due to concerns from his parent club regarding playing time.

With Leipzig preferring the gifted Xavi Simons, on loan from PSG, in attacking midfield, Carvalho was left with just 360 minutes of playing time across four competitions.

Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have been offered the chance to sign former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson after the player revealed his dissatisfaction with life in Saudi Arabia. Liverpool could land a seven-figure windfall if the England midfielder is sold by Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq, which is managed by former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
