Transfer talk: Henderson wants out of Saudi, Sancho wants out of Man Utd, does Mbappe know what he wants?

January 10 – Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been strongly linked with a move to Ajax in the latest twist in the Englishman’s transfer saga as he looks for an escape from Saudi Arabia just six months after joining ex-teammate Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq.

News broke earlier this week of the midfielder’s intention to leave the Kingdom, with his preferred destination reportedly England.

The midfielder, who was a staunch advocate for the LGBTQ+ community during his time in the Premier League, came under fire in his home country after transferring to Saudi Arabia due to their laws surrounding homosexuality, and insisted that the move away from Liverpool was not motivated by money.

Liverpool could land a seven-figure windfall if Henderson, 33, is sold by Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.

Manchester United’s 23-year-old winger Jadon Sancho is closing in on a move to former club Borussia Dortmund. Exiled by his current club, a move away for Sancho is of paramount importance for the young England international to revive his once prosperous career.

Sancho’s former club Borussia Dortmund, who sold him for €80 million in 2021, want to re-sign the player immediately so that the England international can join the club at their training camp in Marbella.

Genoa and Romania defender Radu Dragusin in on the cusp of a move to Spurs after rejecting a late bid by FC Bayern out of respect for weeks of negotiations with the North London club. The player was pictured entering Genoa Airport this morning and is expected to be announced as a Spurs player by the end of the week.

Despite countless reports linking star man Kylian Mbappe away from the club, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has spoken out in an effort to keep the Frenchman, whose highly-lucrative contract expires in the summer. Despite the late effort from their president, PSG still look set to lose their best player for free after paying €180 million to prise him from Monaco in 2017.

Elsewhere in the market, PSG are actively pursuing a January transfer for Germany and FC Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich. The midfielder’s contract at his long-term club FC Bayern expires in the summer with the player unlikely to pen a new deal. Premier League sides Liverpool and Manchester City are also reportedly interested.

Fulham are monitoring 25-year-old AZ Alkmaar and Greece striker Vangelis Pavlidis, who has been watched by Chelsea, AC Milan and Barcelona in recent weeks. The striker has netted on 18 occasions for AZ Alkmaar in the league this season- enough to earn him the player of the month for October.

Former Liverpool and Barcelona playmaker Philipe Coutinho could be on his way to join former teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami.

With the 31-year-old Brazilian’s form continuing to falter since his unsuccessful move to FC Barcelona in 2018, a change could work for all parties – under contract at Aston Villa but out on loan in Qatar, a move would free up Villa’s wage bill.
